December 2, 2020

FBC Family and Friends,

As of December 3, 2020 at 12:01a.m., the restrictions on churches from Mayor Jack Smiley will be lifted and read as:

“ All worship services within the Altus city limits must comply with CDC guidelines for social distancing and sanitization. If social distancing is maintained then masks are not required during actual services. Social distancing is not required during the actual services for members of the same household seated/standing together.”

(Read the full document here: Emergency-Orders-for-02-DEC-2020)

We will be meeting back in person on Sunday, December 6, 2020 for our regular worship services at 8:30am, 10:50am, and 6:00pm. Sunday School will meet at 9:30am. Masks and social distancing are still required. We are continuing to clean and disinfect the worship center after each service and the building throughout the week. Hand sanitizing stations are still provided throughout the building. Along with the CDC, we ask that you continue to practice everyday prevention. Wash your hands often, avoid close contact, wear a mask, cover coughs and sneezes, and clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces often.

We understand that many of you are not ready to meet back in person yet. We will continue our online services. Sunday Services will be online at 10:50am & 6:00pm. The Sunday School Lesson with Dr. Jeff Moore will be at 10:00am. The Prayer Meeting and Bible Study will be live streamed on Wednesday’s at 6:00pm. You can join online at www.fbcaltus.org/live, Altus Cable 72, ROKU, 93.5 FM, and on Facebook LIVE.

We are continuing to pray for you and your families, especially as the Christmas season approaches. Our office is continuing to stay open, please feel free to stop by if you need anything. We are here for you.

In Christ,

FBC Staff

November 27, 2020

FBC Altus family and friends,

As I'm sure many of you are aware, earlier today the Mayor of Altus released a statement:

"In response to the significant increase in confirmed cases of COVID-19, along with COVID-19 related hospitalizations that are overwhelming our local healthcare system, City of Altus Mayor Jack Smiley just issued these Emergency Orders, which will go into effect tomorrow night, November 26, 2020, at 7:00 p.m. These Orders are meant as a way to help protect the public health during this serious public health emergency."

Included in those emergency orders is the call for no gatherings larger than 50 people. (See the full document here). Due to this mandate, we will be going to all online services for Sundays and Wednesdays. The church office will remain open during the week with normal office hours. In regard to other meetings (Men's Gathering, Ladies Bible Study, MDO, and meetings that we know aren't over 50 and don't happen at regular worship times), they will be allowed to meet during the week.

FBC Altus family and friends,

We will communicate soon what ministry and activities will look like at FBC Altus going forward. We know this may be discouraging, but we are trusting the Lord.

Please see the online options below. A Sunday School Lesson will also be offered at 10:00am on Facebook LIVE and on our website at www.fbcaltus.org/live

Keeping you all in our prayers,

June 7, 2020

On June 7th, we gathered back together for worship on our campus. It was such a joy to see and worship with you! We understand that some of you may be comfortable with coming back, some may be hesitant, and some may not be ready- and that is okay. We know that many will continue to worship online during this season and we are looking forward to engaging with you from your home as well. We will continue our online services on Sundays at 10:50am and 6:00pm.

On Sunday, June 7th we will be gathering at 8:30am & 10:50am for service, 9:30am for Sunday school, and 6:00pm for evening service. There will be some changes as we come back the we want to make you aware of. Here are the practices and policies we have put in place to keep you and your family safe as we come back together.

  • To comply with the Altus Air Force Base and allow our military to attend, we will be roping off every other pew.
  • There will be no meet & greet time during the services. #itsokaytosmileandwave
  • There will be no Mystery Box.
  • Giving will be collected at the doors at the end of the service.
  • We will not be serving coffee and donuts at the Welcome Center.
  • Masks are REQUIRED for any person 6 years or older as of July 15, 2020 per the Mayor's Emergency Orders.
  • There will be hand sanitizer around the building for your convenience and we encourage you to wash/sanitize your and your child(rens) hands often.
  • The Worship Center will be cleaned after each service.
  • If you are sick or not feeling well, have been exposed to COVID-19, or are at high risk, please stay home.

These are the policies and practices that have been put in place for the Preschool and Children's Area:

  • We have gone through the preschool/children’s classroom and removed extra furniture and toys.
  • The classrooms are being thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.
  • Signs are posted at each classroom asking parents NOT to leave their children if they have shown any signs of sickness in the last 24 hours, and not to bring them for 14 days if they have been exposed to COVID-19.
  • When the children are dropped off, they will immediately be taken to have their hands washed before being allowed to play. (Older children will be using germ-x).
  • We are making each child (toddlers-4 grade) supply bags. They will not be sharing crayons, markers, etc.
  • No one will be allowed to enter the classrooms except their teachers and staff.
  • We will encourage our little ones to play in small group centers and older children to space themselves as much as possible.
  • We are not requiring teachers and children to wear masks but we are supporting all those who choose to do so.
  • We will not be taking temperatures but will be encouraging parents to do so before coming to church.

We are thankful for how you have stayed connected to our church and others in so many ways during this season. We look forward to seeing you on campus and online each Sunday!
