Girls in Action (GA'S)

What Is Girls in Action (GA’s)?
GA is a comprehensive mission’s education program, for girls in grades 1-6, which includes praying for missions, engaging in mission’s action and witness, learning about missions, developing spiritually toward a missions lifestyle, participating in the work of the church and denomination, and supporting missions.

Through participation in GA, girls grow in their knowledge, understanding, and application of the Bible. They also learn from the example of missionaries, believers, and hands-on mission action what it means to actively engage in ministering to others with the compassion of Christ.

GA Motto: "Go Forward!"

GA Pledge: "As a GA, I will do my best to live a mission’s lifestyle that honors God by learning about missions, praying for missions, giving to missions, doing missions and participating in the work of the church."

GA Scripture Verse: "Give thanks to the Lord. Worship him. Tell the nations what he has done. Announce how honored he is" (Isaiah 12:4 NIrV).

GA Life style Verse: "The Lord has shown you what is good. He has told you what he requires of you. You must treat people fairly. You must love others faithfully. And you must be very careful to live the way your God wants you to" (Micah 6:8 NIrV).

February, March & April Overview

February 2013 - Missions in the Mystery City

Month at a Glance:
Wyatt and Kay Timmus and Nelson Sweeny are missionaries who serve in an ancient city in southern Europe.  Like many other international missionaries, they serve in a place that can't be named due to security concerns.  Even so, the three live out their faith in Christ as they minister to refugees seeking a better life and to nationals who are witnessing great changes in their country.  From coffee shops to camps of the Roma people, sharing Jesus with others is paramount to these missionaries.

Scripture Verse:  Romans 12:21
Don't let evil overcome you.  Overcome evil by doing good.

Meet the Missionaries:
Wyatt and Kay Timmus work with refugees from all over the worked in the mystery city in Southern Europe.
Nelson Sweeny teaches English to refugees and leads volunteer missions teams in the mystery city in southern Europe.

March 2013 - Meet Me in Chicago
Welcome to the "windy city!" Chicago, Illinois, is the third largest city in the United States. More than 10 million people live in Chicago and its surrounding suburbs.  People from many nations, ethnicities, languages, and religion make up Chicago.  More than 200 languages and people groups are represented in metropolitan Chicago.  It is estimated that around 8 million people in the Chicago area still need to know Christ. The North American Mission Board's church-planting emphasis-known as Send North America-has identified Chicago as a "Send City."  This month, GA's will discover how missionaries are sharing the gospel and starting new churches in this multicultural city.

Meet The Missionaries:
GA's will discover how missionaries Cody and Katherine Lorance minister to immigrants and refugees in Chicago.  GA's will discover how missionaries Chris and Lori Wright help pastors and church planters in Chicago.

Bible Verse - You have been faithful with a few things.  I will put you in charge of many things.  Matthew 25:21 (NIrV)

April 2013-Meet Me in Kathmandu
This month GA's will meet missionaries at the top of the world in Nepal, home of Mount Everest, the tallest mountain on earth.  They will meet Vann and Lindsey Whittingham and Royce and Lisbeth Allard, who minister in Nepal-especially in the city of Kathmandu.  Girls will learn about faith and how these missionaries meet challenges in sharing with others the good news of Jesus Christ.

Meet the Missionaries:
GA's will explore Nepal with missionaries Royce and Lisbeth Allard and will discover how God works through them-even in difficult situations.
GA's will learn about missionaries Vann and Lindsey Whittingham and those they minister to in Kathmandu.

Bible Verse - It’s true! The Lord has risen!  Luke 24:34 (NIrV)
